It is not easy for our kindergarten students to sit in a chair for all the activities we complete throughout the 6 ½ hour school day. For many of our students, this is their first school experience and sitting at a traditional desk and chair is something brand new for them. We want our classroom to reflect the diversity of the students we service and flexible seating will provide a variety of seating options for all of our learners.
The flexible seating that we plan on providing our students will assist in releasing some of their built up energy and more importantly allow them to focus on the lessons and learning activities. We began the school year off providing my students with some flexible seating options. Our students are now ready to take flexible seating to the next level!
Wobble seats will provide our students with an opportunity to move their bodies, and release some of their energy without getting up from their seat; which leads to them missing out on invaluable classroom time. Sitting in a chair is not for every student and we have found that some of our students work best when on the floor of our classroom.
Providing my students with carpet squares, as a flexile seating option will allow them to work on the floor anywhere in our classroom. Not all students learn the same way and the varied opportunities that we provide our students in the classroom could leave a lasting impact on their education.
