In my classroom, students from all backgrounds are a part of a high-energy, positive, and inclusive community where learning and kindness take place each day. Many of my students come from families who are struggling in various ways which makes home life confusing and difficult. When each child walks into our school, our staff is constantly working towards reaching each child on a social and academic level. We work hard to teach students rigorous academic skills and life skills to set each individual up for success outside of school. Consistent behavior expectations through positive behavior and intervention supports (PBIS) holds our students accountable for their actions as well as allows for reflection and improvement in the future. The projects I have developed will help students learn the importance of self choice and responsibility as well as understanding there is more than one way to learn in this world.
