My students attend a historically low performing school and are in desperate need of some transformational changes in how they are educated. The majority of the students I teach are the lowest performing students at the school; they are academically at risk of dropping out. They are faced daily with the struggles of poverty, violence, and low expectations. Despite this, my students are profoundly inquisitive. They are resilient and creative beyond belief. They are light-hearted, caring, and vocal. They process and interpret the world with a point of view that only a small portion of our society has the opportunity to witness. I come excited to work every day because there is so much potential and promise with these young minds.
About my class
