My 5th grade students are AWESOME! They come into my classroom every day ready to learn. Unfortunately, the majority of my students walk into school with more than just learning on their hearts and in their heads. Teaching in a low socio-economic school district where 100% of our students receive both a free breakfast and lunch brings certain daily challenges. My classroom carries a positive climate with motivational posters and super student work lining the walls. My goal is to make my students feel safe, cared for, and important. My students respond to this environment by leaving their stressors at the door and participating in engaging learning lessons and activities. My students work well in groups as well as individually. Moreover, my class is eager to learn, share their experiences, and opinions.
