My wonderful group of 4th graders are part of the Mandarin Dual Language Program at Castelar Street Elementary located in the heart of Chinatown, Los Angeles. My students receive half-day instruction in English and the other half-day in Mandarin, where both language components are aligned with CCSS and NGSS. Many of our students come from underprivileged families. I believe my students are the future leaders of their generations because they are immersed in this language-rich learning experience that will ultimately prepare them to succeed in school and beyond. Seeing their hard work and dedication to realize and to achieve their dreams and passions motivate me, both as an educator and as an individual, to grow and to learn along side of my students. To help my students reach their learning potentials, I want to provide the necessary resources and materials that they need to have access to a brighter, better future.
