Picture a first-grade classroom. Maybe you think of a brightly colored carpet or can smell a freshly opened boxes of crayons. Now, what do you hear? In our class, first-grade is the sound of little voices singing songs, reading aloud, and discussing what it means to think like a scientist. It's trumpeting cheers and hushed whispers and everything that falls in-between.
Now, picture yourself as a first grader wanting to join in this joyous noise but unable to because the world around you drowns it out. This is the reality for most of my students during virtual learning. Whether they are at home or daycare, they are competing with the sounds of other classrooms, television, and life bustling around them. By providing each one of my students with a set of headphones of their own, I want to help not only hear what's going on in class but make sure they stay safe during COVID. By providing each child with their own headphones that they can use during virtual learning and then bring back to school when we move to hybrid, I hope to reduce our spread of germs.
Your generous donation will allow me to tell my students with confidence, "Hear me, hear me!"
