My classroom is a full day prekindergarten classroom with fourteen students, ten of which have special needs. The philosophy of our school is to provide children, with and without special needs, an enriched environment in which they can explore and learn through play.
My particular group of children are like little sponges! They love exploring new activities and learning to the point of almost "exhausting" them. Which as a teacher makes you proud but, also always having to find new things for them to explore and learn about. My children learn best through hands on experiences and getting to hold and manipulate things in their hands. Because so many of our children have language objectives a huge part of our curriculum is learning vocabulary. The materials in our STEM center will have many options for not only growth in science and math but also language and social development that will develop the whole child philosophy we hold so dear in early childhood.
