As a teacher at one of the most diverse public schools in San Francisco Unified School District, my students come from a wide range of backgrounds and communities. Over half of our students are from low income households and many are English Language Learners or qualify for Special Education services.
My students come from all different walks of life, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds and neighborhoods, but come together in our classroom every day to learn.
Many of my students take bus rides of over an hour each morning to get from their home neighborhood to my classroom, and I want to ensure that their commitment--and the commitment of their families in choosing to send them to our school--is honored and valued by providing the best quality materials and learning experiences possible for each and every one of my 2nd graders.
