Hi there! I teach in a high poverty area in upstate New York. My classroom endures the adventures and excitement of 7 young boys ranging from 2nd to 5th grade in a self-contained setting. We have one program aide, and two other aides for individual and behavioral support. Daily these children face adversities in and outside of the classroom. It is our daily goal to ensure the safety of each child while providing them with a loving and nurturing environment as we expand their little minds. The boys in my room would play basketball, football, computer games and eat snacks all day if we let them! They are very active, and love to move. They also enjoy singing, creating their own beats, and cracking jokes. I swear I have a future comedian in my room! There is never a dull moment. We enjoy creating stories, reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid and cleaning up around the school in our room. Each day is truly one to remember.
