Working with clay is therapeutic and very meaningful to kids of all ages, but perhaps especially to adolescents who spend so much time on a screen and in testing subjects. Working with their hands engages a part of their brain they desperately need to use and creating clay sculptures and functional ceramic pieces requires lots of critical thinking skills. Ceramic glaze is very expensive but necessary to finish clay pieces in the most aesthetically pleasing way. By funding the purchase of ceramic glaze, my students will be able to bring their creations to life, making art pieces that will last a lifetime.
