The students in our building are nothing short of amazing. They choose to come to our charter school and advocate for a better education. Our students enter our school anywhere from 2-5 years behind in reading, but by the time they are in 8th grade they are on average reading at a 9.5 grade level by winter break.
Our students have learned the joy of reading through the remarkable and dedicated teachers they have been with every year. We not only instill the necessity of reading but the pure love when we learn a lesson, or when characters inspire us.
Students have extended days where they get 4.5 hours of reading instruction a day to make up for the differences between themselves and their peers across the river. They work harder and with more dedication than any students I have encountered before.
