My students need to keep up to date with culturally relevant curriculum about the exchange of information in or modern and digital world. Our "current" textbooks on hand are 17 years old! These new textbooks (Student Journalism and Media Literacy) cover writing, yearbook, media, ethics, digital citizenship, multi media, digital content, and much more, making them so much more relevant to society today. (Especially when compared to the textbooks that we currently have, which don't even mention social media.) I have a handful of students that want to start up a school newspaper! They are volunteering to do this in addition to classes. We will certainly utilize these textbooks for our Newspaper "class." I am building this program from the ground up, and the students who are interested are very excited!
