My students, although just five and six, are truly 21st century learners. Only a few of my students have any type of technology at home and they love to learn with technology. Currently, we share a class set of Chromebooks with another kindergarten class. We are in need of new headphones to go along with the Chromebooks. We also need individual pencil boxes, so they do not have to share such personal supplies. My students use technology to help them learn numbers, shapes, colors, letter names and sounds, sight words, and how to blend words to read. Technology allows them to learn in a fun and enjoyable way while staying engaged. We will use the headphones during both whole class computer time, as well as during center time where computers are part of a small group setting. In addition, the pencil boxes will ensure the my students will have safe and clean materials to start the year. My students are very deserving of new headphones and individual pencil boxes that they will not have to share and can ensure their safety and well being are taken into account. With our older headphones, computer time can get a bit loud. New headphones will definitely help my students concentrate and have personal headphones they don't have to share. Although my students take very good care of their equipment, our current headphones are over three years old and do not always work as well as they could and some are damaged.
