I have 27 amazing kindergarten students who love to come to school every day and learn. Many of my students do not have many books at home, let alone books they can listen to in order to hear expression and fluency. We are a low income school and I have many students who need help learning a second language. I found out very quickly how much they love listening to stories and sharing their thoughts and feelings about the books we read in class. One of the best ways to motivate them to practice speaking and writing is through retelling stories they have listened to.
