This year will be my first year becoming a part of the personalized learning cohort within our district. I am beyond excited to prepare for the upcoming school year. My goal is to create a "home" type of classroom with multiple seating options - like a futon, an ottoman, and stools - which will allow students to stretch out and be comfortable while learning rather than being restricted to the hard plastic chairs throughout the day.
I believe that "Home is not a place, it's a feeling" and that is what I want my students to walking to my classroom feeling like everyday!!!
My goal is for each and every student to walk into my classroom and feel if they are in the comfort of their own home or a dream home of their choice.
As we are building our class community throughout the school year, I want my students to have a "family feel" to our classroom and this new type of sitting will allow students to comfortable and learn at the same time.
Students are encouraged to remaining flexible and free to move throughout our lessons while remaining engaged in their learning.
I am unable to sit a desk and "work" for long periods of time and be comfortable. Students learn better when they are most comfortable, and my goal is to create an environment which will allow for that. I am hoping to start the flexible seating option which will include futon couches and rolling chairs.
Students will now have an option during our carpet time to work and learn while being comfortable while building a "home" type environment.
