I have two classes which consist of 63 dual language third graders. They spend half the day learning in English with me and the other half learning in Spanish with my partner teacher. My students come from diverse backgrounds and about 50% of our students come from socio-economically disadvantaged homes. However, every day students are happy to be in class ready to learn and be positive members of our classroom community. My students are not only attaining dual language skills, but also cross-cultural competencies that will prepare them to be productive citizens in a global society.
