Traumatic experiences may impact a student's ability to focus and complete coursework. A school may have phenomenal teachers with state-of-the-art technology, but what happens when intrusive thoughts arise as a result of trauma? And how do schools address no sleep as a result of frequent nightmares? This is why our school social worker will focus on identifying students who may benefit from self-expression art therapy. Utilizing a trauma-focused workbook, our students will decrease trauma symptoms and begin a healing path through expressive art activities. This group will facilitate a safe and healing environment for students who are particularly comfortable with a non-verbal form of expression.
