At this time, we only have a few hands-on materials and manipulatives and more is needed to support our sixth grade standards. The materials I've chosen for this project will be used to reinforce and teach concepts that require more than just written and pictorial examples.
I want my students to continue to always love to learn by offering a variety of ways to do so. The hands-on equation balance will be used for when we learn about equations, expressions, and inequalities. Students will be able to physically group like terms and "balance" their equations. When drawing geometric nets and calculating surface area and volume, students will be able to take apart and work with the folding geometric shape sets.
