My students are full of life and are eager to get messy. Their desire to explore new things in the art room is one of the many qualities I admire about them. The entire school population is low-income, African-American, and some of the students tell me they can't afford to buy pencils because their mother needs the money to paint the walls. These types of realities effect each and every one of my students. It is my goal as an art educator to give them something more than what they are used to. I want to allow them to make art that is exciting and out of the ordinary. They deserve the world and I am searching every day to give it to them.
