I work with champions and little troopers from Kindergarten to 12th grade that are in the hospital. These students are special and an honor to work with. A lot of my students have sickle cell, but I also have students with asthma, diabetes, cancer, and various other conditions. Some of my students miss a lot of school, due to being frequently admitted to the hospital. Some of my students are not well enough to attend regular school, so they receive schooling in the hospital and in their home. Being in the hospital can be lonely, boring, frustrating, and scary for kids. They miss time with their family and friends, in which they spend days and nights in the hospital. Fortunately, I am able to teach them while they are in the hospital. Students that feel well enough to come to the classroom receive instruction in the classroom. Those that are under isolation precaution procedures are instructed at their bedside.
