My diverse group of Transitional Kindergarten SDC students need exploration opportunities to help expose them to science, engineering, technology and math. Providing them with the materials that they need will help to foster a love for STEM related activities. These students need hands on experiences to be fully engaged. Every students unique learning needs will be met by providing a multi-modality, hands on approach to science, math, and engineering exploration and learning. Students will be engaged and have opportunities to be fully involved in their learning with the science centers and fairy tales STEAM kit. The magna-tiles and pattern block cards will provide them hands on math and engineering opportunities that will help students to develop reasoning skills while encouraging creativity. Turning games, centers, and hands on activities in to their learning is not only more engaging for students but also developmentally appropriate. My class is so excited to use these materials throughout the day. We will get to use items during explicit teaching in centers, incorporate STEM themes into read aloud time, and give them the opportunity to independently explore STEM activities and collaborate with peers during their free choice exploration time each day. I know that with these materials we can help spark and passion an interest and in young minds for science, technology, engineering and math.
