When you meet the students in my class and their families you would think they were like any other family out there. The difference is their situation. I work in a low income school in an urban school district in North Carolina. Any given year I could have homeless students, students with parents working multiple jobs, and students with no support at all. Everyday they come to school wanting a safe environment, a caring teacher, and all the resources that other students at "better" schools receive. My goal each day is to show them they are special and deserve the best education possible. They are great kids who are sometimes in not great situations, but live everyday to the fullest. They deserve access to materials that will help them in the future.
