We currently use my personal iPhone to create iMovies of skits that students write, direct, and act out about what they learned in a given unit. It is difficult to edit these short movies on my iPhone, I hope to teach the students how to edit them on an iPad. Since they are the ones creating these films themselves I have 100% buy-in on the subjects are learning. This is a fun and exciting way to engage my students in the topics we are studying.
My students enjoy taking what they learn in text and bringing it to life on the screen. Being that almost half my class are English learners, making movies/skits has really improved their oral language skills. They are able to hear the language being produced by their peers and also practice their language in the dialogue of their skits.
