As you walk into my classroom you'll encounter smiling 7th graders that are working in groups, and anxiously awaiting for the next scientific adventure. They enjoy using technology and learning through innovative avenues that will enrich their everyday learning. The majority of my students are English Learners that are continuously improving their oral, listening and writing skills.
All in all, my students come from hard-working families that live in a low-income community, yet you would not be able to tell this from just seeing their very high spirits on a daily basis.
Especially after going through the scare that Hurricane Harvey brought about. My students and their families are striving to overcome the financial, emotional, and stressful tolls that this hurricane left on its tide through Houston.
Nonetheless, these very same students are the ones that remind me just why I chose teaching as my career.
