I teach at a school in Florida where 98% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. We have 7 self-contained special education classrooms and my classroom is one of them. My students love learning and being at school each day, however, their actions may not always align with that truth.
In our class, we have a motto that guides our actions - STRIVE to be champions everyday. That means we are: Safe, Trying our best, Respecting others, Increasing our knowledge, Voicing our feelings, and Encouraging others. Throughout the school year my students grow to live our motto. They learn how to appropriately express their emotions and frustrations. They learn how to multiply, write paragraphs, and explore. Most importantly, my students learn how to advocate for themselves and how to use their knowledge to succeed.
Through my projects, we will bring my students the resources needed for possibility to become reality.
