Every day I enter a classroom full of 28 kindergarten students. My students come to school ready to face the day's challenges. Many leave behind single mothers, parents yelling and fighting, and cupboards begging to be filled. They enter with the dream to leave behind the struggles at home, hoping to change their fragile future for the better.
While home lives may be a challenge, school appears to be a saving grace for many of my kiddos. In a state where movie stars become Governor and taxes are larger than life, my students deserve to be prepared for what lies ahead for them.
