I currently work for the School District of Philadelphia. I work in an elementary school in North Philadelphia. I teach 3 and 4 year olds in a low income Head Start Program. Although my students are eager to learn, many times I find myself buying the materials I can afford to execute a lesson. My students deserve the best and they are so appreciative for all of the fun learning activities I enable them to complete through our lessons.
The school I work for lacks the resources to provide teachers with additional financial support. Although efforts are made to give us some support with materials, it is impossible to provide us with the support we actually need. We receive new students each day and many of our classrooms are at capacity.
