Students in my classroom are pushed to read 250 pages each week in an independent reading book of their choice.
But, kids won't read a book they don't like. We all know reading is important. It develops the imagination. It is how we discover new things. It's how we develop our minds. Students who read more have better focus and concentration, memory, communication, fluency, and higher vocabulary. But, kids won't read a book they don't like.
By finding this project you are putting books in student's hands. You are providing students with more choices on topics, levels, and genres of books. You are changing reading from a chore to a choice. You are helping to foster a love for reading.
