I teach Transitional Kindergarten in southern California, our school has an 87 percent free and reduced lunch rate school wide. Transitional Kindergarten students start the year as 4 year old children and during the Fall and early Winter turn 5. They love school and being able to explore their world. Many of my kids have never held scissors before or played with Legos. It is my goal for my students to leave TK with as many rich experiences as I can finance. For many of my students, my classroom is the first time they have ever been to real school. They are excited daily to learn knew things, and love being scientists and engineers.
