My students are curious, capable, loving kindergarten - third graders who want to discover the world around them. They live in an inner city neighborhood that is filled with crime and poverty. Many of my students are underprivileged. Most of the students come to school ready to learn. Some students have unfortunate circumstances at home that make it hard for them to come to school ready to learn, but they still come to school. The students in my classroom love learning. I work in a school that has over 300 students and the school is understaff. 99% of the students are eligible for free lunch. Teachers are drained by the middle of the year due to the behavior problems that occur throughout a given day. The students at my school are capable of succeeding, if they were given the materials and opportunity needed to succeed.
