I teach middle school students in Northeast Los Angeles. My students come to us from a diverse array of experiences. About 90% of them qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of my students are recent immigrants to the United States, while others have lived here since birth. I teach a wide range of learners including English learners, students with learning disabilities, as well as students working at or above grade level who are in constant need of being challenged. It's my responsibility to meet the needs of all my students so they can access their full potential.
Despite any challenges they face, my students are curious, open to new experiences, and full of promise. I am proud to work in a school that provides a learning environment that is culturally relevant, challenging, and safe. My priority is provide a learning environment in which students feel supported to take risks and can develop self-efficacy.
