My students have chosen to take an elective they knew would be challenging and would focus on both English Language Arts and Social Studies. Our school is offering a newly created class titled "Social Justice" which studies watershed events throughout history that involve topics such as racism, stereotypes, genocide, and bullying. Currently we are studying the Holocaust and plan to read Elie Wiesel's Night to supplement our understanding of the Holocaust.
