Kindle Fire tablets will make a huge difference in my classroom. Everyday, we have literacy groups where I teach 6-7 students at a time. These students are typically reading at all different grade levels. Imagine teaching a level C reader with a level S reader! It is essentially impossible to do at the same time. I have created individual assignments so that students can work independently while I work with others to focus on specific skills.
Having easy-to-use technology will allow me to better individualize what students are working on each day. One student can be working on reading fluency, while the other is learning sight words. All this can be done while I work with a few students on reading comprehension. Having enough technology in my classroom for all students to be able to work independently would be ideal for them to grow in the subject of reading.
