My school is a Title 1 school located in diverse metropolitan area. We have 7 third grade classes, each with approximately 25 students who come from very similar situations. The majority of the students in the school come from low income families, many of whom are also from Hispanic families. Almost 95% of the students in my classroom are ELL learners whose native language (and the language spoken primarily at home) is Spanish. My students are bright, excited students who are eager to learn and eager to please. They know that I want and expect the best out of them, and they want and expect the best out of themselves.
