My kindergarten students come from a neighborhood that is in an unincorporated area of a metropolitan city. They come from a low socioeconomic status and often lack financial, social and educational resources. The majority of my students are English language learners and parents have two jobs and often do not have money to buy school essentials. It is a challenge teaching in a socioeconomic school because of the lack of resources. I often have to buy materials with my own money, and it tends to be very costly. However, the beauty of teaching five year olds is that they are always ready to learn and are so eager when given new opportunities.
