I teach visual arts to over 1,000 vibrant young creators from Preschool through eighth grade, including those in RISE enrichment programs. My goal is to help students express emotions, celebrate cultural identity, and unlock their creative problem-solving skills through the power of art. Cesar A. Batalla School serves a beautifully diverse community, with 94% of students identified as economically disadvantaged. Our Dual Language program uplifts immigrant families and first-generation American students, many of whom speak Spanish or other languages at home. Despite challenges, our school is rooted in equity, inclusion, and growth. In my studio, I use culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices to nurture confidence, resilience, and self-expression. Every day, I strive to make sure my students feel seen, valued, and inspired to create.
