As kindergarten students, the children in my classroom benefit from hands-on activities that allow them to practice the skills learning during instruction. For literacy, these centers will be used during "small group" to reinforce vocabulary and phonemic awareness. My students are bilingual and need visuals and engaging activities that will help them learn letters and sounds better. "The Sounds Tubs" has visuals of each letter. Students can use this center to practice letter sounds and vocabulary as they see the picture cards inside the tubs.
For math instruction, the centers chosen are also helpful because my students will get to practice counting and 1-1 correspondence as they play and complete each center. The magnetic board is a compliment for math instruction. During small groups, students need to receive explicit instruction of what the teacher is saying. This magnetic board will allow me to use magnetic counters and other resources to teach math concepts as I differentiate instruction for my students.
