I will be using the materials gained through this campaign to support my students in making sure they have the tools to show up to class ready to learn. I teach in Oakland, California where my students are exposed to some serious situations on a frequent basis which causes some to have difficulty taking care of themselves and coming to school prepared.
Some of the items I've asked for are water bottles, soap, washcloths, deodorant, warm socks, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.
These items will be used for my students to create care packages for themselves in effort to support them taking care of themselves. If my students are warm, clean and fed, they're more likely to be in a place to learn and have more pro-social interactions with others.
