I teach a self contained 5th grade class in a Chicago Public School on the South Side on the city. Our school is on the "borders" of two dynamic neighborhoods - Lawndale and Little Village. My students are wonderful children who come from homes that are made of different types of families - single parents, separate parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles who are the main caregivers. And with many hardships that adults would find defeating, these students continue to rise and shine! I want to always be able to present the best that I can in educational opportunities and engaging lessons for them! They are MY reason to rise and shine!

About my class
