My 6th grade students have been challenging themselves as readers all year! Book clubs have been crucial in this incredible reading growth. These clubs serve as a perfect opportunity for students to think deeply, challenge each other's thinking, and develop a love of reading. This project will purchase book club books for a Dystopian/Fantasy Book Club Unit. Materials from this project will challenge students as readers, while also pushing them to more deeply understand the society in which they live. By examining the worlds in various texts, students will analyze what in society works and doesn't work. As they read, students will consider whether there are any parallels between those in the books and the world we live in. Students will be asked to use this thinking to help make our school, community, and nation a better place.
