By having chapter books in both Spanish and English for the Dual Language program it will help students develop their reading, writing, fluency, and reading comprehension skills in both languages. Students will be prepared for today's society and become global citizens. Students will get to see books that are interesting to them and resonate with the characters based on their cultural, linguistic, or traditional backgrounds. Having books in their native language (Spanish) will make students feel joyful towards their reading. In addition, students will get to learn about their peers' traditions and cultures which will build empathy towards others and appreciate the diversity within the classroom. Students will feel valued because their language is reflected in the classroom. Language is a part of their identity and I want to make sure I respect it in the classroom.
