I teach a self-contained special education classroom serving students with autism who are primarily nonverbal. My students are bright, curious, and full of personality, but they experience the world through unique sensory and communication needs.
In our classroom, we focus on building communication, independence, life skills, and emotional regulation. Every day we celebrate small victories that are actually huge milestones — using a communication device independently, successfully transitioning between activities, or learning a new way to express feelings.
My goal is to create a safe, structured, and supportive environment where every student feels understood and empowered to learn. With the right tools and resources, my students continue to grow in confidence, communication, and independence every single day.
