My students are Freshman in a Title 1 school in Illinois. Unfortunately, most of the students are struggling readers. Most enter our high school reading at approximately a 6th grade reading level. With the recent implementation of Common Core Standards, the students have been asked to complete many challenging tasks, and they have been diligently trying to succeed. My students are hardworkers who want to experience growth. This school year has been trying on them, and they have almost made it through!
