Our class has 20 kiddos and 1 teacher. We begin our day at 7:40 and say goodbye at 2:40. We learn so much daily. We can barely get it all in somedays. We love math! The kids enjoy the videos, the lessons, and the activities we have. In small groups they do about 20 minutes of center time where they practice a math skill in a type of game/task card format. Our literacy block takes up much of the day. We read at least 3 books together a day.
My philosophy is to create a homely environment where the kids are safe and comfortable. I encourage them to do their best and use manners. My students often become "mother hens" to each other because I support helping others and giving every kid what they need. I once heard that fair isn't giving everyone the same, its giving them what they need. I teach by that!
