Our school, located in a historic building in an urban area in the city of Pittsburgh, was in danger of being closed last year due to low enrollment. Thanks to our dedicated parents' and staff's appeals we were approved to become a partial science, technology, engineering, arts, math (STEAM) magnet school next year. This will allow students from all over the district, as opposed to just those in our community, to attend. Thanks to this change we have already increased enrollment and are nearing a point that we don't have to worry about our doors closing and our families having to walk or be bused further to a school outside of our community! I need materials for my wonderful and inquisitive kindergartners to support our new school model through this innovative hands-on approach to learning.
