To "direct ones hopes or ambitions toward achieving something" is the definition of aspiring, which is the word I would use to describe our students. Among being gifted and talented, students here at our school are in constant need of being challenged in a DIFFERENT way. Everyday lessons in math and language arts provide students with what they NEED to learn, but our school is lacking what students WANT to learn. I work in a 5th grade classroom and what I have noticed among the students in the 4th and 5th graders is school is becoming a very dry, boring place to be because they come to school, learn how to pass a test, take the test, and learn how to pass the next one. Through art and extra curricular activities, and supplemental materials, I plan to change that.
