"Dreams about the future are always filled with gadgets." Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson said this, and I wholeheartedly believe in this statement. My students dream of the future and I want to give them a real shot at making their dreams come true. I have several students who have graduated to go on and study something in the sciences, and this year I have two students interested in geology. In order to open their eyes to the wonders of science, I would like to incorporate technology into my classroom to give them real life experiences. I pay out of pocket for most of my scientific resources, but purchasing a Geiger Counter is a little out of my price range. I have several students who are interested in radioactivity, and this would be a wonderful resource so the kids can research radioactive places around their hometown as well as interact with radioactive minerals already in my possession. This will be used in the geologic time unit for earth science, which encompasses absolute dating methods, and a Geiger Counter can help identify radioactive sources, thus helping us find the half-life. Be 55 teenagers' hero and help support their dreams! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
