This year I implemented Flexible Seating in my ELA classroom. The students embraced their new seating options quickly and we have all grown fond of this change. Students are able to select a new seat each day they come to class.
With the success of Flexible Seating, it is time to expand our options in the classroom. We currently have just enough options for each student in class. While this works, limited options don't allow for students to move if the need arises. The addition of picnic chairs and bean bag seats will add additional options for those students. The Wobble Chairs and the Kick bands are a great addition for my kiddos that just need to get their wiggles out while they are working. This will allow them the opportunity to move without disruption their neighbors. The stability rings will help keep our already popular stability balls in place for that students that prefer that option.
Overall, the addition of these new items is going to benefit each student that comes to class. It will give them more options to meet their individual needs on a daily basis and allow them the opportunity to change as those needs arise. When they are comfortable in their spot we find that it is easier to focus and pay attention in class!
