My students attend a Title I public, technical high school in New York. Our school focuses on preparing the student body with the technical skills for a career in hospitality management. Our student body is extremely diverse. The one thing all the students have in common is that they each chose to attend this high school out of a list of 425 schools. Although we do not have an entrance exam, our students compete with those that do on many levels, including attendance records and regents scores. Our students want to come to school and like being here. Since we are a technical high school, I believe it is extremely important to emphasize the importance of the arts and mainly, of language.
