If I could describe my classroom in five words, I would use: authentic, rigorous, supportive, engaging, and community. Over the last 7 years of my career I have worked on ensuring that my classroom is a place where students take ownership of their own learning. I have a huge passion for teaching and learning and have a strong desire to share that passion with my children. My class is definitely engaging. While their out of school circumstance may not be the best with many coming from the nearby shelters, I work hard to make sure that all students understand our classroom is a place where they can grow in all capacities. Creating a community of risks and learning is essential. I care about kids and they know it. Taking the time to know my students well, not just as learners, but also as people has helped to create a real sense of belonging in our shared space.
